After fighting for a $250M bonus tied to the success of Subnautica 2’s Early Access, Unknown Worlds Entertainment CEO, Ted Gill, has mutually parted ways with the company. This was part of the settlement the two had agreed upon where parent company, Krafton, would keep true to their agreed bonus, which at the time, the South Korean game corp had been figuring out ways of avoiding to pay by delaying the game through what was labeled “pressure tactics.”
Now, with Krafton agreeing to payout, according to Bloomberg, Gill is sticking to part of the settlement, which means he’s departing. This isn’t like their previous encounter, with the outgoing CEO asserting that the two “mutually agreed to part ways” and “new leadership is the best way for the studio to move forward.”
The bonus will be issued through three payouts with everyone part of Unknown Worlds getting a hefty bonus, even those who haven’t been there long.
At this time, there isn’t a confirmed CEO, but odds are, Krafton will seek out someone externally.
